Online savings accounts usually come with substantially higher interest rates to help you grow your money faster (regular in-person banks can’t offer rates as high). Banks like CIT Bank and Discover Bank (among other top players in the industry) are great because their interest rates are often over 20 times higher than the national average. That means the money in your savings account will grow 20 times faster than the pace it’s most likely growing at now.
Great article. I recently came back into blogging. I hadn’t realized how much I had learnt from my first attempt. Now with the new blog I started about a month ago, I am seeing an increase of traffic everyday which is quite surprising and very exciting. So I have been reading all over how to monetize a blog. Your article is excellent and in-depth. Thank you for sharing I will definitely be using some your advice. Blessings.
An influencer is an individual who holds the power to impact the purchasing decisions of a large segment of the population. This person is in a great position to benefit from affiliate marketing. They already boast an impressive following, so it’s easy for them to direct consumers to the seller’s products through social media posts, blogs, and other interactions with their followers. The influencers then receive a share of the profits they helped to create.
But I think the biggest deciding factor in this, goes back to the site as a whole and all of the other posts. Are the genuine? Is the blogger constantly trying to push products? I’d like to think I’ve been doing this long enough that my audience knows I’m not out to make a quick buck – and I think even relatively new bloggers can prove this based on their other content.
Many online retailers offer adjustments when the price of an item you’ve purchased drops within a certain amount of time. Paribus is a free service that takes advantage of this fact. Paribus monitors your purchases, watches for price adjustments or late deliveries, and requests refunds when applicable. Those refunds go back into your pocket. You have to allow the service to scan your email for receipts, but it works with a variety of big retailers, including Target, Nordstrom, Walmart and Costco.

That’s a great tip Sean, thanks! I was thinking about what you said in your post about some companies not putting that they have affiliate links and you having to do some digging and there are couple of companies/authors who made products I love and keep using, but I’m not sure how to go ahead and ask about the affiliate link. I read the post you linked below about asking for guest blogging, which I thought was a must-read, and so, if you think of doing a follow-up on this one, would love to read some of your tips and do’s and don’t about this. Thanks again, Sean, you’re doing some very inspiring work here!
Thank you, Carol. I’ve been rummaging through eLance and Odesk jobs and was getting quite frustrated seeing all those jobs requiring so much and paying so little. I was worried about pricing myself out of a job, but at the same time I need to make a decent living, and I know people who are getting much more than what a lot of content mills pay. Right now, I primarily write for Demand Studios and LIVESTRONG because they pay more per article. I also do articles and blog posts for a private client. I LOVE blogging, so I found your post about blogging for money very helpful. I finally made the leap and signed up on WordPress so I can do my own blog and go on from there.
Private coaching, like consulting, is another situation where you trade time for dollars, but in terms of your hourly pay rate it is hard to find a higher paying “job”. Of course you don’t have to start off charging thousands of dollars. Depending on your expertise and what kind of outcome you help people achieve, will determine how much you can charge. Offering coaching for $100 per session is not out of reach for most people, and that’s not a bad starting rate if you are looking to build up your experience through helping others closely.
Mow lawns or plow driveways. If you’re willing to mow yards or shovel or plow snow in the winter, you could easily start your own snow removal and lawn mowing business on the side. While you can usually find work by reaching out to your local community via word-of-mouth, flyers, or online message boards, the website Plowz & Mowz allows you to set up an online profile and reach more customers in your area.
CashCrate sends out literally thousands of payments a month to users just like you who spend time completing surveys and offers on CashCrate.com. How do they do it? Well, they do surveys and offers regularly. It really adds up! Your initial goal should be to meet minimum payout, which is $20.00. Making $20.00 in free cash is actually quite easy considering there are hundreds of surveys and offers available, but here are a few tips to get you to your goal faster:
@John Walter in my opinion it’s not really hard to understand audience, if you understand yourself that how much you like some article the way you react about any article audience do pretty much the same. because of many online tools its also easy to know what are they talking about & most of the blogger indeed are using this tactic really impressive way.
You said that having your own blog helps… but isn’t having decent samples on other blogs enough? I haven’t had time, energy or money to set up my own blog but when applying for jobs on let’s say Problogger job board I provide links to published content on blogs or Hubpages. I want to combine blogging for others with setting up blogs to sell affiliate products but I need money to support my family in the meantime.
Great list here Yaro, thank you so much for sharing. I think combining some of these you can get a real steady income going. I agree with the fact that $250 is a great amount for reviewing other products, but like you said that can become something rather tedious and will not allow you to be truly free. As well you will not be writing what your passionate about.
6. IZEA – IZEA works in addition to a blog or on its own. You get paid to blog, tweet, take photos and take videos. The pay is mostly based on your following, so if you want to make money with your tweets, you’ll need to grow you Twitter following. Likewise, if you want to make money with blogs, you’ll need substantial blog traffic (more on blogging below).
Affiliate marketing allows you to recommend products and services from other companies and be paid a commission if someone buys the product as the result of your recommendation. To track which purchases happens as a result of your recommendation(s), the merchant will provide you with a special link to use when linking to their website that contains a unique referral code assigned to you. If people click that unique link, and buy the product or service within a specified timeframe (the timeframe varies depending on the merchant), you get a commission on the sale.
Affiliate marketing has now invaded Hollywood? We know it invaded US politics in Washington as some politicians (current and retired) are silent affiliate marketers or in MLM. Maybe we can look forward to hearing in the next few years about more celebrities going from actors and actresses to home-based affiliate marketers. Wouldn’t that be something?
Our friend Bobby realized that soon after he started his blog. His site wasn’t making any money at the time, so he needed to find another way to bring in some cash. That’s when he started reaching out to other businesses offering his services doing the things he’d learned from blogging (Facebook ads, writing online content, social media strategy, etc.).
Understand the difference between total revenue and net income. Most income reports tout total revenue. Net income or profit (what really matters) is often buried in the post. I came across an income report recently with a super impressive number in the title (and Pinterest image). It was total revenue. Not until I read the whole post did I learn this blogger spent well over half their total revenue on Facebook Ads alone. On top of that, they had an extensive list of expenses. By the end of the post I realized I had netted more than they did the previous month.
In 2017, there were almost 90 million pet dogs in the US. Which has opened up a huge opportunity to make money online as a dog watcher or sitter. Specialized sites like Rover or Care.com connect pet owners with pet walkers, sitters, and boarding houses to help look after their best friends when they’re at work or on a trip. If you’re an animal lover, you can make extra money and get to spend some quality time with a furry friend.
LinkConnector has struggled to stand out from the pack but nonetheless has managed to sign some exclusive deals with big name brands, including Writer’s Digest, the Disney Store, Ironman, Hats.com, and Everly. Their strictly controlled screening process for both merchants/advertisers and affiliates/publishers means that you can always rely on the quality of products on offer.
Monetize a hobby. While some hobbies actually cost money, others can be transformed into a profitable business venture. Ultimately, it depends on what your hobby is and how talented you are. You could turn your love of photography, for example, into a part-time gig taking family portraits and wedding photos or selling prints on Etsy or at arts fairs.
1. Do more and more Content Remarketing: This is the first and foremost point. If you are producing quality content but you are not doing content remarketing then there are high chances that you cannot reach your goals for such content. When you produce a good content then you should tag the visitors who likes your site and comes regularly. So by this way, when you tag them for new content they read that content and share that content. Also they feel good for your website. Content Remarketing simply means that you should bring those users who have already likes your content. So by this way, you are able to grab the existing users.
Forms of new media have also diversified how companies, brands, and ad networks serve ads to visitors. For instance, YouTube allows video-makers to embed advertisements through Google's affiliate network. New developments have made it more difficult for unscrupulous affiliates to make money. Emerging black sheep are detected and made known to the affiliate marketing community with much greater speed and efficiency.
I’ve been blogging professionally for quite a while now, and although I’m confident in my abilities, I’m always trying to improve and seeking out advice and help from the experts. Writing, like many skills, is a craft that you can always improve. Read more widely and extensively by reading material you may not ordinarily read (and yes, I mean actual, honest-to-God books, not just blogs). Write every single day – yes, every day, even if it’s only a hundred words or so. Be relentless in your pursuit of excellence, and don’t settle for mediocrity.
You'll have a total of 2,160 points (worth £15) in your account so you can visit the 'rewards store' to choose which gift card you want, which you should do before the sale ends on Wed 24 Oct. The gift card will then arrive within 10 working days, either by post or via email in the case of voucher codes. You can also convert your earnings into PayPal cash but it costs more points (800 SB = £5 PayPal).
I fail to see what I’ve said that’s insensitive. Obviously, you are able to write competently in English, Kay. Nikolai wasn’t. This isn’t a cultural-sensitivity issue..it’s a competency issue. I’ve also seen English-native writers who cannot construct an English paragraph without grammar errors. And they, also, do not have a bright future as freelance writers.
It’s hard to pick one piece of advice, but as with any type of marketing program, I think knowing why you are doing content marketing, and what you want to accomplish, is so, so important. As in – why do you want to produce content? What are your goals? Do you want to increase exposure, brand affinity, gain more customers, improve your search engine rankings, etc? Set some firm goals and create paths to achieve them. It isn’t enough to say “I’m going to write some awesome content and magically rank #1,” it needs to be more like “I want to rank very highly for these specific keywords, and I’m going to do that by creating informative pages on these topics that include information and graphics, and I’ll do it by this date.”
I learned this the hard way last year when I launched a new blog… it felt icky doing it but I convinced myself that it was part of growing and “getting outside my comfort zone”. I was promoting something I believed in, but it was too heavy handed because my focus was more on making money than serving my audience. I got my first unsubscribers that week… lesson learned. Not that I’ve sworn off selling, but I’m learning how to do it in a way that doesn’t turn people off.
Share your content on social media. Don’t assume that everyone is coming straight to your blog! Often, readers will encounter your posts on their social media feeds, then follow to read more. Maximize traffic by scheduling social media posts for when your audience is most likely to be online. And, don’t be afraid of repeating yourself. A new social media post about an older blog entry can send fresh traffic to it.
If you’ve ever slogged your way through reading a piece of marketing and only finished reading because you had to, then you’ve experienced bad content marketing. When I speak to companies about content marketing I tell them that content is good if they genuinely want to read it. Content is great if they’re willing to pay to read it. If you want to see great examples of content, just look at what you’ve paid to read, watch, or listen to lately. If you watched The Lego Movie this year, you saw one of the greatest examples of content marketing to date. Oh, you thought they made that movie in order to sell movie tickets? Think again. That was a 100 minute toy commercial, and rather than using a DVR to skip it you paid good money to watch it. Is it any coincidence that Lego recently leapfrogged Mattel, the creators of Barbie, to become the largest toy company in the world? You may not have the budget to make a feature film to promote your company, but you can still give potential customers valuable information.
Speaking of the benefits of permanent ads, banners and links aren’t the only ways to earn a little bit of dough off your online endeavors. By having a website, you gain the power of emailing companies to ask them for things. I have no shame in letting the yoga company whose mat I’m looking into purchasing know that I have a blog and write for yoga publications – it sometimes gets me discounts.
There are dozens of ways to make money online but have you ever thought that what can be the easiest way of earning? The answer to all your questions is Adsplz. We are basically a digital advertising company in India with whom you can effortlessly earn online easily and in continuity. You might be thinking of a dozens of apps that promises the same. Then
Re-purpose content. A blog post can provide material for a video, podcast, or infographic. A series of blog posts can become an eBook or white paper. Information from an article can become a checklist or another asset. Among the content marketing tips that successful marketers prize are those that allow you to get the very most mileage out of every content asset. Work smarter instead of harder by looking at what you already have.
So yeah, it sucks. It’s the truth. But sometimes we need to do things that “suck” in order to get us where we want to be (which means being okay with were we are now, but not being content with it). The truth is, though, working part-time helps me pay rent and gives me food and shelter, and allows me to scrape by and focus on what really matters, and that’s working towards my dreams and writing every day I can.
You may want to be super-professional, very casual, or something in between. And you’ll have to manage the balance between showing your expertise and not patronising your audience. Here’s Sprout Social’s advice on creating consistency with your brand voice, and keep in mind important SEO ranking factors to optimize your content. Take a look at these successful content marketing examples for inspiration.
When I think “grind”, I tend to think of unpleasant, tedious monotony – like when I catch myself playing Halo 4 multiplayer when deep down I really don’t want to (it’s just this inner spoiled brat that says “It’s a game, therefore it’s fun” even when it isn’t, and doing a little housework might actually meet a need to be at peace that the gamer-urge is trying to override).
Join a startup accelerator: Another great option is to apply to a startup accelerator like Y Combinator, 500 startups, or TechStars, where a group of investors will help coach you, connect you with potential partners, and provide startup cash in return for a small stake in your company. The competition is tough to get into these, so don’t rely on them as your only path forward.
“Content is King” was the title of an essay by Bill Gates which accurately predicted that content creation would be how people would make money online. Content marketing is now the best and most effective way to reach your target audience. That’s because people no longer accept companies marketing AT them. Instead, they use tools like Google to do their own research, and make purchase decisions based on what they find. Companies that produce helpful, useful and great content get more business.
If you don’t mind doing other people’s chores, then TaskRabbit is a great option for making money online. Earn extra income by walking your neighbor’s dog or mowing Mr. Smith’s lawn. It might seem like not the most lucrative option, but the top taskers reportedly earn as much as $7000 a month, making this a full-time way to make money online for some.
Become a freelance writer or editor. If you have a passion for storytelling or a background in writing or editing, it’s possible to find freelance writing or editing work online. To search available job openings, check out sites like UpWork.com and Problogger.net. You can also check traditional job sites such as Indeed.com and enter “telecommute” or “anywhere” in the location field.
The terms of an affiliate marketing program are set by the company wanting to advertise. Early on, companies were largely paying cost per click (traffic) or cost per mile (impressions) on banner advertisements. As the technology evolved, the focus turned to commissions on actual sales or qualified leads. The early affiliate marketing programs were vulnerable to fraud because clicks could be generated by software, as could impressions.
Carol, I think you could have been a bit more tactful with that. While I agree that Nicolai, you may have better luck (an arguably would enjoy it more!) by finding blogging and marketing opportunities in your native language, I don’t think this is “self-evident” and I have seen non-native English speakers write content. However, these bloggers 1) were often paid less than their fluent and native counterparts, and 2) usually had an editor on stand-by to preview and edit their work before sending in drafts.
Affiliate marketing is also called "performance marketing", in reference to how sales employees are typically being compensated. Such employees are typically paid a commission for each sale they close, and sometimes are paid performance incentives for exceeding objectives. Affiliates are not employed by the advertiser whose products or services they promote, but the compensation models applied to affiliate marketing are very similar to the ones used for people in the advertisers' internal sales department.
Robo-advisors are diversified investment accounts that are automatically managed by a computer algorithm (as opposed to a human money manager). If you want to invest, but don’t have the money, or don’t want to invest with a money manager, robo-advisors are for you! Robo-advisors make investing easier—and cheaper—so they’re perfect for new investors.
Upwork: This website offers a great marketplace for selling just about any professional service. You don't need a merchant account, website of your own or anything else for that matter. All you need to do is be able to provide a high-quality service at a reasonable price. But be informed, you will have to compete with many others that are constantly bidding on open jobs.
