I would like to agree with Amy. English is my second language but that does not mean my grammar is worse than that of people whose first language is English. I did my Bachelors degree in this country and I should say, I was surprised how most American classmates did not have proper grammar compared to mine. Think about affiliate link placement in your posts. I can often tell a blogger’s intention is to monetize a post with an affiliate link. However, there will be either a gigantic introduction (lots of words!) or other links (that take the reader away from the post) before the affiliate link shows up once. Eliminate distractions. Put your affiliate link as close to the beginning of a post as works naturally. And of course disclose first.
Each channel and content format must be handled according to its own unique strengths and limitations. Shorter-form content with a quick takeaway or an easy hook works well for social media and videos. Longer ideas work well in blog posts pr downloadable white papers and guides. Make sure you thoroughly understand how every channel and content type works before you start executing ideas.

Hi Carol – love your blog and really love this inspirational post! I just got a 3-month paying gig blogging for a small company once per week at a rate of $150 per post. I never would have felt comfortable bidding this if not for this post so many many thanks for giving me a pep in my step! I just wanted to know if there is a standard practice with how one should bill/invoice clients like these. For my design projects I just bill when the project is finalized. This is more on-going and so I feel more inclined to invoice twice a month so I’m paid consistently – but I’m unsure if this is best practice for independent bloggers.
